Capital Gains
2016 Capital Gains Amounts
Mutual funds are required to distribute net realized capital gains and income each year. These distributions were paid for the year 2016 pm December 15th (to shareholders of record on December 14th). This year’s distribution amounts are provided in the table below.
The Sit Fixed-Income Funds pay regular monthly income distributions. No capital gain distributions were paid for the Fixed-Income Funds.

2015 Capital Gains Amounts
Mutual fund companies are required to distribute net realized capital gains and income each year. Distributions for the Sit Mutual Funds were paid for the year 2015 on December 17th (to shareholders of record on December 16th). The 2015 distribution amounts are provided in the table below.
The Sit Fixed Income Funds pay regular monthly income distributions. No capital gain distributions were paid in 2015 for the Fixed Income Funds. The Sit Balanced, Sit Dividend Growth, Sit Global Dividend Growth and Sit Small Cap Dividend Growth Funds pay regular quarterly income distributions. (Note: The Sit ESG Growth Fund also had no capital gains in 2015, due to the Fund’s June 30, 2016 inception date.)

1099-R
This form reports the amount of distributions taken from IRAs and other retirement plans such as pensions and profit-sharing plans.
Activity that causes this form to be generated:
- Taking a distribution from your IRA or retirement plan; click distribution codes for a summary of what the codes mean
- Moving money from your 401k plan to an IRA
- Taking a distribution from your IRA and then putting it back into that same IRA or another IRA within 60 days
- Converting all or a portion of your Traditional IRA into a Roth IRA
- Recharacterizing that “conversion” amount back into the Traditional IRA
1099-Q
This form reports the amount of distributions taken from a Coverdell Education Account.
Activity that causes this form to be generated:
- Distributions taken to pay educational expenses or used for any other purpose
- Transferring assets from one beneficiary to another
- Moving assets from one Coverdell ESA to another
1099-DIV
This form reports distributions made by the fund company.
Activity that causes this form to be generated:
- Taxable dividend distributions
- Capital gains distributions
- Tax-exempt dividend distributions
1099-B
You will receive this form if you sold or exchanged shares of your mutual fund in the preceding tax year (non-retirement accounts only). This form also reports the cost basis information, if available, related to these sales and exchanges.
Activity that causes this form to be generated:
- Sale of shares in a non-retirement account
- Exchanging between funds in a non-IRA account
The Form may be divided into as many as five sections, which are differ in terms of the character of gains/losses (short-term versus long-term) and whether or not these gains/losses are reported to the IRS. Generally, if the shares that were sold were originally purchased prior to 2012, then the gain/loss information is NOT reported to the IRS.
- Sections 1 and 2 are for short-term gains/losses
- Section 1 cost basis is reported to the IRS
- Section 2 cost basis is not reported to the IRS
- Sections 3 and 4 are for long-term gains/losses
- Section 3 cost basis is reported to the IRS
- Section 4 cost basis is not reported to the IRS
- Section 5 is only for reporting sales of shares for which the cost basis is not available.
5498-ESA
This form reports the amount of contributions made to a Coverdell Education Savings Account.
Activity that causes this form to be generated:
- Contributions to the account from parents, relatives, the beneficiary or other person(s)
- Moving amounts from one Coverdell ESA to another
5498
This form reports the amount of contributions made to an IRA within the preceding tax year.
Activity that causes this form to be generated:
- Contributions to the IRA account
- Rollovers from a retirement plan or another IRA
- Converting from a Traditional IRA to a Roth IRA
- Recharacterizing from a Roth back to a Traditional IRA
