Transfer an IRA Account Held with a Different Financial Institution to a New Sit IRA
Step 1
Read the Fund’s Prospectus
The prospectus includes important information on a fund including management fees and expenses, and financial reports present aspects of a fund’s operations, financial condition and performance during the period. Read it carefully before investing.
Step 2
Complete the Application and Transfer Form
Both an application and a transfer form are required to transfer an IRA from a different financial institution to Sit Mutual Funds, if you don’t already have a Sit IRA.
For Traditional, Roth & SEP IRAs, use the IRA Application. To set up a SIMPLE IRA, use the SIMPLE IRA Application.
The Transfer Form also comes in two different versions. The IRA Transfer/Direct Rollover Form is for use with Traditional, Roth & SEP IRAs. For SIMPLE IRAs, use the SIMPLE IRA Transfer Form.
Step 3
Mail Completed Application and Transfer Form
Mail a signed account application and transfer form via U.S. Mail or other delivery methods.
Notes
A Medallion Signature Guarantee may be required to transfer your other IRAs to your Sit IRA.
Your former employer may require you to complete their distribution form prior to a transfer. Please contact the employer first.
